Playing Burrowed Fears on PC delivers the strongest horror experience the game offers: precise mouse look, quick dialogue selection, and keyboard movement that feels natural during tense stalker and motel sequences. Roblox uses a standardized control scheme across most experiences, and Burrowed Fears follows those defaults with minimal customization. This guide covers every input you need before starting Episode 1 or Episode 2, plus tips for staying calm when jump scares hit.
Whether you launch from the Roblox desktop app or browser, confirm your mouse sensitivity and keyboard layout in Roblox settings before entering an episode. Horror games punish fumbled controls at the worst moments — learning bindings upfront prevents accidental deaths during chase or hide sequences.
Movement Controls
Character movement uses the standard Roblox first-person scheme. Your protagonist walks by default; running is available when the game allows faster movement during exploration segments.
- W — Move forward
- A — Strafe left
- S — Move backward
- D — Strafe right
- Shift (hold) — Run or sprint when applicable during exploration; not always available during scripted story moments
Burrowed Fears rarely demands platforming precision, but hallway navigation in Episode 1 and motel corridors in Episode 2 benefit from smooth strafing. Practice moving while looking around with the mouse before your first playthrough so you can reach doors and interaction points without stopping to reorient.
Camera and Mouse Look
Mouse movement controls the camera in first-person segments, which comprise most of the gameplay. Move the mouse to look around rooms, check windows, glance down hallways, and track audio sources — critical skills when the stalker might appear outside or when motel noises come from adjacent rooms.
Adjust Roblox mouse sensitivity under Settings if turns feel too fast during scare sequences. Many horror players prefer slightly lower sensitivity for smoother, less jittery camera control. Right-click behavior follows standard Roblox defaults; Burrowed Fears does not require special mouse buttons for core story progression.
Interaction: E Key
Press E to interact with objects, doors, phones, study materials, vehicle components, and NPC prompts when the on-screen interaction indicator appears. Context-sensitive prompts are central to Burrowed Fears — reading texts, picking up items, opening doors, and triggering story beats all flow through the interact key.
If an interaction fails, move closer to the object and ensure no dialogue window is blocking input. During cutscenes or phone calls, wait for prompts to finish before pressing E again. Our Episode 1 Walkthrough and Episode 2 Walkthrough note specific interact locations when players commonly get stuck.
Dialogue and Choice Selection
Story decisions appear as on-screen dialogue options. On PC, click the option you want with the left mouse button. There is no numbered keyboard shortcut by default — mouse selection is the intended method. Read every option carefully; choices in Episode 2 especially (such as whether to stop for Jason) affect later scenes.
Dialogue boxes may also advance by clicking continue prompts or pressing interact when indicated. Never rush through text during a first playthrough; messages contain foreshadowing, phone numbers, and timing clues the game expects you to notice.
Menu and Pause: Escape Key
Press Escape to open the Roblox in-game menu. From here you can adjust Roblox-level settings, reset character if stuck, or leave the experience. Burrowed Fears may pause or continue depending on the current scripted sequence — during active horror moments, opening the menu might not freeze the scene, so use it primarily between beats or in the lobby.
The episode selection lobby uses standard Roblox UI navigation with mouse clicks. Select Episode 1, Episode 2, or future chapters from the main interface before loading into story content. See All Episodes for the current chapter list.
Recommended PC Setup
Optimize your setup before playing horror content:
- Fullscreen — Reduces distractions and improves immersion. Configure via Roblox settings or our Recommended Settings guide.
- Headphones — Episode audio design relies on directional cues; speakers work but reduce tension.
- Graphics quality 8+ — Higher settings improve lighting and atmosphere in dark house and motel scenes.
- Solo mode — Play alone when possible; see Solo vs Multiplayer for details.
- Wired connection — Reduces latency during scripted sequences on slower networks.
Common PC Issues
If movement feels sluggish, check whether you are holding an interact state or locked in a cutscene. Mouse stutter often traces to background recording software or low frame rates — raise graphics settings carefully or close other applications. Stuck in geometry is rare but can be resolved via Roblox reset character from the Escape menu when the game allows.
Controls vs Mobile
PC players enjoy faster camera control and more precise dialogue clicking than mobile touch input. If you started on phone and want maximum immersion, replay episodes on PC with recommended settings. Mobile players should read our Mobile Controls guide for touch equivalents of every action listed here.
